After deciding that this was my year to apply and attend a top graduate business program, I began the search for the perfect MBA admissions consultant, a service I felt I needed to put my best foot forward and maximize my chances of admission into a top program due to the one, gaping hole in my profile – my poor undergraduate academic performance. I had numerous “first appointments” with most of the major, noteworthy firms that are mentioned on all of the graduate school forums and in admissions articles. Much to my disappointment, all of these consultants advised me to look at a lower tier of business schools in the 15-30 ranking range, well below my desired target range of schools, despite the strength in every other area of my candidacy.
